Happy Holidays from MEL!
The volunteers and staff wish you and yours a very happy holiday season and a peaceful new year!
The MEL Holiday Bazaar will kick off the season on Saturday December 13 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM. Visit our local artisans with special gifts for sale and then take your purchases to the Gift Wrapping Station, take part in the Holiday Ornament Workshop for children, listen to live music by Eddy Silvio and enjoy snacks and drinks.
The MEL Book Club Fiction & Friends meets on Thursday December 18 at 10:00 AM. The selection for this month is Hard by a Great Forest by Leo Vardiashvili. You can read a synopsis here. New members are always welcome.
The Santa Ana Gallery Tour will step off from the Santa Ana Park at 10:00 AM on Thursday December 18 and January 8.
The MEL Wine Tastings will gather at a wonderfully festive home in La Ermita. Join us for this holiday celebration on Thursday December 18 at 7:00 PM. No tickets are available at the door, so get yours today in the MEL Shop.
A Very Special Children’s Storytime takes place on Saturday December 20. Join us starting at 10:00 AM for stories and crafts. Seating is limited and you can preregister here.
The fourth annual MEL Posada starts at 7:00 PM on December 20 with Christmas Carols on Calle 53, as we close the street and serenade our neighbors with holiday songs in English and Spanish. Then we move into the library where you can purchase dinner and drinks, and cap off the evening with the traditional breaking of the piñata. This is one of MEL’s most beloved activities; please join us!
We’ll toast our good luck in the new year at MEL Bingo Night on December 27 at 7:00 PM.
Conversaciones Con Amigos and Language Classes are on hiatus between December 23 and January 2. Conversaciones Con Amigos will kick off the new year beginning Monday January 5 at 7:00 PM, and the language classes resume Wednesday January 7.
The Climate Solutions Study Group will not meet in December. We’ll see you at our next meeting on Saturday January 17. There will be no Tai Chi on December 30.
The library will be CLOSED on December 24, December 25, December 31 and January 1, and there will be no afternoon hours on Friday December 26 or January 2. There are no House & Garden Tours or MEL Talks on these days. However, Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Thursdays as usual.
