Language Courses at MEL
“Asesorías de Idiomas Mérida'' is a foreign-language teaching and training center with courses in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish, directed to teenagers and adults. Operating for this year at the Mérida English Library, the center has global reach using digital tools and both in-person and online learning.

“Survival Spanish Level II” - Continue your Spanish education with this Advanced Beginner Course. Please contact the instructor by WhatsApp 9999 68 69 84 or e-mail alodo.edu@gmail.com to confirm you are eligible for this course. 4:00 - 4:50 PM in the classroom
“Survival Spanish Level I” - Spanish for foreigners, with useful phrases and vocabulary to survive in a city where Spanish is spoken, including idioms, regionalisms, and the culture that surrounds us in this beautiful city. 5:00 pm - 5:50 pm in the classroom.
“Inglés Desde Cero” - If you think the English language is not for you, it seems difficult for you, or you have had poor experiences while learning, then this class will help. Review basic concepts and strategies to build and strengthen your confidence in a friendly space. 5:00 pm - 5:50 pm in the Reading Room.
“Intermediate English” - Take your English to the next level! Improve and strengthen your English language skills with grammar, vocabulary, conversation, writing and oral expression. Master this level and move forward. (We request you take a brief placement exam to test your language level.) 6:00 pm - 6:50 pm in the Reading Room.
About the courses:
The cycle starts on January 11 and ends in June with eight sessions per month.
We will work with print materials (extra cost) and all types of digital and technological resources that will make learning a new experience.
You can use your laptop, tablet, or cellphone for working in class.
Special meet-up sessions for socializing with local and foreign people to practice your skills.
Groups focused on teenagers and adults age 16 and up.
Seating capacity of 15 participants per group.
Classroom with air conditioning.
Access to MEL Wifi.
Certified Foreign Languages Instructor Alfonso López Domínguez, director of Asesorías de Idiomas Mérida, has been teaching language classes since 2010. He has experience managing groups of different levels and ages, and he and his trained collaborators are ready to share their knowledge and skills with you through these courses. You may recognize Alfonso as the Outreach Coordinator from MEL, and now he brings his good vibes and know-how to this program at the library.
The monthly fee for eight sessions is MX$700 payable in advance, but you can pay MX$1000 for two months for a 30% savings. Note that you are making a commitment to participate in the sessions from January through June. Upon completion, you will be ready to certify your level at an available institution.
