Members can check out books and puzzles; up to five items at a time. Plus. members enjoy discounted pricing to the library’s most popular events like The Original MEL House & Garden Tour, the Santa Ana Art Gallery Tour, and the monthly Wine Tastings. Unlike public libraries in some other countries, MEL receives no government funding. Therefore, your membership fees help us keep the lights on and funds our free programs like MEL Talks and Children’s Storytime.

Members may check out up to five items at a time. The check-out period is two weeks, and items can be renewed twice.

Late fees are MX$2 per item per day. Send us an email to renew your items before the due date. The lost book penalty is MX$500.

We are at Calle 53 #524 between Calle 66 & Calle 68 in the Santiago neighborhood of centro.

Our year-round hours are from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM Monday through Saturday, and Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. The library is also open seasonally for Conversaciones Con Amigos on Monday 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, and on Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We are closed on Sundays and on national holidays. You bet there are! MEL runs almost exclusively on volunteer labor, including our Board of Directors. The Circulation Desk and Help Desk, our special programs and tours, and our free presentations are made possible by our dedicated volunteer staff. We have a collection of books, puzzles and DVDs for children and young adults. Our every-other-week Children’s StoryTime is very popular, with new books and activities at each event.

Conversaciones con Amigos is one of our oldest and most popular activities, and the perfect opportunity to practice your second language.

It is! We have Wi-Fi available throughout the library. Stop at the Help Desk for the password.

Our classroom can be reserved for groups up to 30 people, and some groups choose to meet on our patio or upstairs terrace. Click here to see our rental and building use policies, or send us an email.

There is street parking around the library. The nearest pay lot is at the Santa Lucia park. The entrance is on Calle 60, on your left, midway between Calle 55 and Calle 53. There is also a private lot across the street from the library. DO NOT PARK THERE unless you have made arrangements with the owner.
