Posada Mexicana at MEL 2025

Yes, we know—it doesn’t snow in Yucatán, but we sure know how to rock the holidays!

The Posada Mexicana at MEL is here!

For the 4th edition of this fabulous event, we invite the entire MEL Community to join us for an evening that brings together beloved Mexican holiday traditions.

On Saturday, December 20th at 7 p.m., we will gather outside the Mérida English Library on Calle 53 between 66 and 68 in Centro. We’ll sing Christmas carols in English and villancicos in Spanish to our neighbors, and then we’ll sing the traditional Posada song at the MEL door.

Enjoy our Christmas Dinner Sale in the MEL patio! This year we will be serving our version of the traditional Platillo Fiesta: a mix of a Mexican-style tamal + green spaghetti with garlic and butter + a slice of sandwichón (a popular savory layered “sandwich cake”) + a stuffed conito (pastry filled with meat or salad). We strongly encourage pre-ordering online to enjoy your plate during the Posada Mexicana.

Drinks will be available for purchase at our cash bar.

And the star of the night: a monumental piñata! Everyone is welcome to take a swing—candies for all!

As in previous years, this event is a fundraiser benefiting the Mérida English Library and partner organizations such as Huellitas de Amor, a nonprofit promoting responsible animal rescue, adoption, and sterilization. We invite you to bring pet food donations.

Throughout the year, we have also been supporting Teletón CRIT Yucatán, a foundation that serves children with disabilities. We will have a donation box available for cash contributions. Click here to learn more.
