Happy Holidays from MEL!

The volunteers and staff wish you and yours a very happy holiday season and a peaceful new year!

  • A Very Special Children’s Storytime - The Grinch Who Stole Christmas - takes place on Saturday December 14. Join us starting at 10:00 AM for stories and crafts. Seating is limited and you can preregister here.

  • The third annual MEL Posada starts at 7:00 PM on December 14 with Christmas Carols on Calle 53, as we close the street and serenade our neighbors with holiday songs in English and Spanish. Then we move into the library where you can purchase dinner and drinks, and cap off the evening with the traditional breaking of the piñata. This has rapidly become one of MEL’s most beloved activities; please join us!

  • The Cuarteto Yucatán, composed by members of the Yucatán Symphony Orchestra, brings us a holiday concert for families on Saturday December 21 at 10:00 AM. Then, take your artistic skills to the limit with a Wine & Paint session beginning at 11:30. We’ll gather together to celebrate everything beautiful that has happened in our lives this year and try to save all those memories in a single bag.

  • Conversaciones Con Amigos and Language Classes are on hiatus between December 23 and January 12. Conversaciones Con Amigos will kick off the new year beginning Monday January 13 at 7:00 PM, and the language classes resume Wednesday January 15.

  • The library will be CLOSED on December 24, December 25, December 31 and January 1. There are no House & Garden tours or MEL Talks on these days, and no Bingo Night in December.

  • The MEL Book Club Fiction & Friends meets at their regularly-scheduled day and time, Thursday December 26 at 10:00 AM.

  • The Santa Ana Gallery Tour follows the normal every-other-Thursday schedule, stepping off from the Santa Ana Park at 10:00 AM on Thursday December 19 and January 2.

Please have a safe and festive holiday season and we look forward to seeing you at the Mérida English Library!
