DENISSE ROMAY

México City

Glass

Denisse Romay has been creatively expressive since childhood, shaped by the energy of her cosmopolitan surroundings. In 1999, she co-founded the art production house Espejearte, a project that sparked her deep interest in glass. She later trained at Escuela de Artes Independencia, studying enameling, fusing, and stained glass, before moving to San Francisco in 2003 to work and study at The Crucible, specializing in kiln-formed glass. Selected for the Celebration of Craftswomen Show (2006–2008) and an artist-in-residence at the de Young Museum in 2008, she has since participated in numerous exhibitions. After returning to Mexico, she founded Vitrociclaje in Mérida, where her recycled-glass mosaics, windows, and murals now appear throughout homes across the city.
