BENNÉ ROCKETT

USA

Encaustic Art

After two decades as an art therapist, Benné divides her time between Mérida, Yucatán, and her hometown of New Orleans. This ongoing dialogue between place, memory, and identity profoundly influences her artistic work. By employing the transparent layering of encaustic, Benné highlights our fragility and encourages a deeper communal understanding of our role in conserving the natural world. She aims to establish a significant relationship between the medium and subject in the present moment with her audience.

Her recent exhibition at The Lydia Street Gallery in Austin, Texas, titled Grown in Darkness, features works that delve into how life begins in shadow, how growth manifests in stillness, and how beauty—delicate, layered, and resilient—emerges from the quiet depths of the unseen.
