Summer Break at MEL 2025
It’s been some hot days in Mérida, the rain cools things down, but sometimes it’s better to stay at home during these rainy days. We get it! That is why we are taking a summer break with some of our programs and classes at MEL.
On Saturday, June 28, we gathered in spite of the heavy early rain for a last Storytime. We normally meet in the patio, but this time, the children section was our space to sing, read, and be part of a very cute arts & crafts project. We read “The Kindness Book” by Tood Parr and created friendship bracelets. Watch the broadcast on this link, and here are some pictures. We will not have Storytime during July and August.
The program Conversaciones con Amigos is also taking a break during the summer. We know local and expat friends look forward to meet every Monday at MEL to practice English and Spanish, but we might have to wait until September to continue. On June 30, we discussed about “Summer Plans” what to do and where to go during these months. If you want to continue practicing, we suggest you visiting the Central State Library Manuel Cepeda Peraza on calle 55 and 62 in Santa Lucía Park, a few blocks away from MEL. Check the location here. They meet on Wednesdays from 7 pm to 8:30 pm to practice languages, and they occasionally do French and Italian as well. Look for Adeola, and jump in.
The Spanish Classes at MEL are also taking a break. Last class was on Friday, 27, with their social gathering. They are planning a Spanish Summer Course starting on July 8 at their new location near the Centenario Zoo. Read more here. The classes will resume first week of September.
Please, stay tuned to learn more about our programs and events scheduled during these days. MEL will continue to open from Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm. On Wednesdays only from 4 pm to 7 pm.
Happy Summer.
