Climate Solutions Study Group

It’s pretty obvious that dramatic, often catastrophic, climate changes are occurring around the world. And we know that right now, in this 2020-2030 decade, there is a narrow window of opportunity for humanity to collectively implement actions to slow (and perhaps repair) the conditions that are causing the climate crisis.

What most of us don’t know is what the solutions really are. We don’t know what can and must be done on all levels—individual, community, region-wide, nationally, and globally—to pass on a livable planet to the next generation.

The Climate Solutions Study Group is for people who have no intention of giving up and sacrificing Mother Earth. It’s for people who are less interested in blaming others and more curious about what is really true, what is really most effective. It’s for people who are happy both to take baby steps and to make big leaps.

The intention of the Climate Solutions Study Group is to learn together by:

  • reading thoughtful books and materials

  • viewing climate-related documentaries and movies

  • inviting, when possible, local Yucatán leaders to share their perspectives regarding climate issues

  • perhaps even taking field trips

The group is free, conducted in English, open to all, and ideally, a group in which leadership will be shared.

This endeavor is initiated by Esther Jantzen, EdD, who has been part of a small Elder Activist Readers environment/climate change discussion group for the last four years in the US.
