Requesting Book Donations in Memory of Mayra Alejandro

In Memory of Mayra Alejandro, friends of Mayra are creating a bilingual collection of children’s books.

Mayra Alejandro, past president of Merida English Library Board and a founding member of the Library Collection Committee (LCC), passed away in May. She was a facilitator of Conversaciones con Amigos for many years and started the library’s ESL collection when she was on the LCC.

To honor this amazing person, friends of Mayra are creating a collection of bilingual children’s books in her honor and are asking MEL members to donate books from the attached list. All the books can be purchased on Amazon.mx or you can donate money to the library to buy a book on the list. All donated books will have a book plate with Mayra’s name and your name as the donor. Mayra spoke six languages and combined her love of languages with her strong belief in education. She was also the person we looked for when we entered a room because of her welcoming smile and spirit. Let’s join together and remember how fortunate it was to have had Mayra in our lives.
