Painting

Ken Perkins began painting at age sixteen. He later studied painting at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and spent many years living and working in NYC before relocating to Mérida. The city quickly became a defining source of inspiration for him—its colors, architecture, nature, and distinctive light shaping the direction of his work.

Perkins’ paintings interpret both the world around him and the physical process of painting. Color is his central element, supported by abstract structural forms. Working in acrylic, he builds thin, translucent layers to develop shifting tones and complex chromatic relationships.

He has exhibited in Mérida, including a solo show at Sega Art Gallery.
