Speak Spanish, Live Yucatán is a unique four-week immersion program designed for English-speaking visitors, expats, and travelers who want to communicate confidently in Spanish while experiencing the culture of Mérida beyond the typical tourist attractions.
Whether you're spending a few weeks or several months in Yucatán, this program will help you connect with local people, understand everyday conversations, and enjoy a deeper appreciation of the region's history, traditions, and way of life.

Alfonso López D.
Spanish Teacher
Founder of Asesorías de Idiomas Mérida, Alfonso has helped English-speaking students develop practical Spanish skills in a relaxed, friendly environment.
His teaching combines language, culture, and real-life communication, helping students experience Yucatán with greater confidence and enjoyment.

Each Tuesday we prepare the vocabulary, grammar, and expressions you'll need for Saturday's cultural experience.

Twice a week sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays, according to the library calendar.
Join anytime and register for a single session at the beginning of each month, and get a special fee.
Materials included. Quiz Day and Viernes Social on the last week of each month.

BÁSICO - LEVEL 1 A0 - A1

This is an introductory level for Spanish learners where basic grammar, vocabulary, and easy conversations make it comfortable to start communicating with others.
Content:
September: Introducing yourself, the alfabet, spelling words, speaking in class.
October: Greetings, introducing people, gender and number of nouns, ser y tener.
September to June
BÁSICO INTERMEDIO - LEVEL 2 A1 -A2
5:00 - 5:50 pm
Continue working on your language skills by learning more grammar structures, more vocabulary, and having fun interacting with the Spanish we learn in class.
Content:
September: The neighborhood, public transportation, imperative, giving instructions, asking for favors.
October: Meeting with friends, going to places, present progressive actions, describing people.
September to June.

INTERMEDIO - LEVEL 3
6:00 - 6:50 pm
The conversation goes on in level 3 as we explore more common expressions, complex structures, specific vocabulary, and lots of communication skills. This class is mostly in Spanish to encourage students’ active participation.
Content:
September: Grammar review of basic Spanish.
October: Likes and dislikes, routines, simple past.
