Special Talk: Ancient Maya Ball Game

The Maya Priests and Elders Council (KUCH KAAB YÉETEL J-MEN MAAYA'OB, A.C.) brings to us the Week of Maya Culture in Mérida, named MAYAA TUMBEN JA'AB - SACRED CEREMONY OF MAYAN NEW YEAR 2023. A series of 5 days with different events around Mérida, completely for free, open to the public in general, and available in Maya, Spanish, and English languages.

Be part of the grand opening on July 22, right in Plaza Grande (calle 60 x 61) with music, a Maya collective wedding, book presentation, and Maya ceremonies. Starting at 1:00 PM.

The Mérida English Library is honored to host this special talk: Ancient Maya Ball Game, as a component of this cultural cycle, to which everybody is invited. Experts from the Maya Priests and Elders Council will share interesting details about this game that is still alive among our communities.

This talk will take place on Monday, July 24th, from 5 to 7 PM, right at the patio of MEL. this is a free talk with limited seating.
