Posada Mexicana at MEL

To the rythm of “Jingle Bells” and “Los Peces en el Río” let’s all join at calle 53 to celebrate Posada Mexicana at MEL!

The Mérida English Library is proud to announce this amazing event where all the MEL Community is invited to sing, have dinner, and break a piñata. This is our opportunity to share how we celebrate our December Holidays in México.

During 9 days before Christmas Day, families in México host a gathering with neighbors and friends where they recreate the scene when Mary and Joseph were looking for a place to stay before Baby Jesus birth. Even though, posadas have a religious background, these are a great chance to get together, celebrate and be thankful for the good year that is ending.

Join us on Saturday, December 16th, starting at 7:00 pm as we close the road on 53 street between 66 and 68 Centro de Mérida. We will visit our neighbors to sing Christmas Carols in Spanish and in English. Last chant will be at the door of MEL with the traditional posada song in Spanish to enter the library.

Support the library by having dinner with us! Posada Dinner Combo Menu will be available soon for pre-sale, and enjoy at the library on the Posada Day. Get your drink of choice from our cash bar to enjoy the evening.

Once inside, after dinner, children can line up to hit our monumental piñata and collect candies to take home.

Ticket entry? Canned food for dogs and cats as donations, to help an animal shelter.

Last year we had a blast with over 100 people enjoying the way we do in México!

This is a fundraising in benefit of the Mérida English Library.
