David Aldrich

"The Road to "A Portrait of Rio Lagartos": an artist looks at his creative journey in trying to capture the essence of the community of this Yucatecan pueblo”.

David Aldrich, a painter and portraitist with strong ties to Yucatán, will reflect on his creative journey that has led to “A Portrait of Rio Lagartos”, an exhibition of paintings that will open in November, 2027 at the Centre de Artes Visuales in Mérida.

During the past five years, David has worked with a small group of locals in Rio Lagartos to meet and photograph a variety of the pueblo’s residents with deep roots there, and transformed this material into a series of twelve portraits of various individuals that together reflect the unifying diversity of this close-knit community, as well as glimpses of the universality of human experience which we all share.
