Laurel received a BFA from Syracuse University. She worked as an Art Director in Advertising at Ogilvy & Mather, then created Style Hounds and designed hand-knit dog sweaters and people-wear. She has published three books of her knitting pattern designs.
When she moved to Mérida she was inspired to take photos on her morning walks in Esperanza. Details and vignettes that catch her eye, the play of intense color, light and shadow. She shoots in a square format and combines four mutually complementary images into another square. to make a statement with a theme and title. She had her first show at Sega Art Gallery and continues to be inspired by the color and morning light of Mérida.
