JUAN PUEBLO

Mérida

Painting

Juan Pueblo still recalls the moment that marked his creative destiny. As a child in the late 1980s, his parents took him to an art exhibition in the city’s historic center—an exhibition of works by Frida Kahlo. One painting in particular struck him deeply: an image depicting Aurora experiencing a miscarriage. Pueblo couldn’t explain why, but something in that raw emotional force pierced straight through him.

From that moment on, he understood what he wanted for his own life: to paint in a way that moves others, to create images powerful enough to awaken sensation, memory, and emotion. His practice continues to be guided by that early revelation—art as a catalyst for feeling, connection, and human truth.
